Impressions [2013]

Impressions was a contemporary exhibition in which seven artists responded to Pride and Prejudice in its bicentenary year. It was held at Jane Austen House Museum in Chawton where it was displayed throughout the rooms in the house. Susan Wood explored and recorded the literary walk from Chawton to Farringdon and created a modern soundscape from her audio sketches. Excited by the Dye Plant Bed in the garden at the house she made a number of preliminary sketches of the area and researched the colours which can be obtained from the various plants. She then translated these into prints one of which includes the Latin names of the birds she saw and heard in the garden.
